Anyone with issues regarding landlords and tenants in Arizona can access the Arizona Residential Landlord Tenant Act on the Arizona Department of Housing’s website. The Law Library has a couple of resources that may also be helpful. The Arizona Landlord’s Deskbook by Carlton C. Casler has information for potential and current landlords on preparing to become a landlord, getting tenants, managing tenants, and evicting tenants. The book contains some sample forms and also has a section dealing with commercial leases. Arizona Rental Rights: A Guide Book for Tenants, Landlords and Mobile Home Users by David A. Peterson and Andrew M. Hull is another resource that may be helpful. There are brief chapters on landlord’s legal obligations, landlord’s rights, tenant’s rights, eviction, going to court and more. Additional information on the eviction process can be found on the Justice Court’s website as well as azlawhelp.org. The City of Phoenix runs a Landlord Tenant Counseling Program through the Neighborhood Services Department that offers education and counseling services to City of Phoenix residents with landlord/tenant issues. You can find more information about this program on their website at http://phoenix.gov/nsd/programs/landlord/.
